Town Board Meeting Minutes
September 18th, 2023
*5:00 p.m.*


1) Call to order. Town Supervisor, Curt Peterson called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

Town Supervisors in attendance were Peter Vanderloo, Pam Johnson-Loy, David Pope and Kyle Levetzow. Also in attendance were Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson and Kevin Zajicek.

Everyone in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

2) Approval of Public Notice/Agenda. Supervisor, David Pope made a motion to approve the public notice and agenda seconded by Supervisor, Kyle Levetzow. Motion carried.

3) Discussion & possible action re: Purchasing of Mower Tractor & Equipment. Town Patrolman, Kevin Zajicek presented information in regards to the proposals for a New Holland T6.160 Mower tractor with a 3-point hitch flail mower, boom rotary mower and a side mount flail mower. David Pope made a motion to approve the renting of the T6.160 mower tractor and the purchasing of the T6.160 mower tractor once we are completed with mowing and can complete the trade-in. Kyle Levetzow seconded the motion. Motion carried. Kyle Levetzow made a motion to approve the purchasing of the Tiger mowing equipment contingent upon approval of utilizing the one-time impact fees. David Pope seconded the motion. Motion carried.

4) Discussion & possible action re: Purchasing of Mack Truck Chassis. No action was taken.

5) Discussion & possible action re: Ordinance Chapter 33 Town of Dodgeville Room Tax. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson presented a revised drafted Room Tax Ordinance and provided the State Statues in regards to the formation of a joint tourism commission. Kyle Levetzow made a motion to discuss the creation of a joint tourism commission with the City of Dodgeville. David Pope seconded the motion. Motion carried. Town Chairman, Curt Peterson indicated that he would attend the City Council meeting with the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday to see if they would be interested in the proposal and to have it placed onto a City Counsel agenda.

6) Discussion & possible action re: Update on Town Roads Report. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson presented the updated Town Road Report, a letter of gratitude from Scott Construction and the wedging estimate from Iowa County. Sara Olson also updated the Township in regards to the status and final work that needs to be completed on the Military Ridge Road Project.

7) Discussion & possible action re: Priorities of the Township. Town Chairman, Curt Peterson presented information in regards to the priorities of the Township which include roads, equipment and employees and indicated that Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson praised the Town Board Supervisors while talking to another municipality in regards to these priorities. No action was taken.

8) Closed Session in accordance with Wisconsin Statue 19.85 (1) (c) to consider employment, promotion, employee hours, compensation or performance evaluation of any public employee of which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. (Clerk/Treasurer Contract) David Pope made a motion to go into Closed Session in accordance with Wisconsin Statue 19.85 (1) (c) to consider employment, promotion, employee hours, compensation or performance evaluation of any public employee of which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility. Kyle Levetzow seconded the motion. Motion carried. Roll call: Peterson, yes; Pope, yes; Johnson-Loy; yes and Vanderloo, yes. Clerk/Treasurer Sara Olson was also present.

9) Reconvene into Open Session. David Pope made a motion to reconvene into open session. Kyle Levetzow seconded the motion. Motion carried.

10) Board action as a result of Closed Session – Clerk/Treasurer Contract. Kyle Levetzow made a motion to approve the 3- year contract for the Appointed Clerk/Treasurer effective June 3rd, 2023. David Pope seconded the motion. Motion carried.

11) Adjournment. Kyle Levetzow made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:31 p.m. David Pope seconded the motion. Motion carried.
