IMPORTANT ELECTION INFORMATION
Preparations are underway and deadlines for the 2017 Spring Election are quickly approaching. If you are thinking of running for an elected position, now is the time to get materials together and declare your candidacy! The Spring Election will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 and candidacy filing for that election is due by January 3rd, 2017. The important dates are as follows:
December 1, 2016 First day to circulate nomination papers
December 23, 2016 Deadline to submit notification of non-candidacy
January 3, 2017 Deadline to submit nomination papers (5:00 p.m.)
February 21, 2017 Spring Primary Election
April 4, 2017 Spring General Election
The Town of Dodgeville will have three positions up for election in April 2017. They are Town Chairman Curt Peterson and Town Board Supervisors, David Blume and Steven Johnson. They have the option of seeking re-election. Any qualified residents of the Town can run for one of the positions. To run for one of these positions you must be a qualified elector, which means a United States Citizen, 18 years or older, and have resided n the Town of Dodgeville for a minimum of ten consecutive days at the time of filing your candidacy papers.
All positions serve a two year term and their responsbilities are defined in the State Statutes. In general Town Board Supervisors oversee: employees, contracts, roads, taxation, budgets, public works, land use and planning.
