February 23, 2009 Notice to Bidders



OWNER: The Town of Dodgeville, located in Iowa County Wisconsin will receive separate sealed unit price bids for the following items for reconstruction of the intersection of Military Ridge Road and CTH Q and repaving of Survey Road from STH 18 to Brue Road and misc. paving near the Town Shop.

1. CONTRACT #1 - Excavation, Curb and Gutter, Road Gravel and related improvements. This Contract is for excavation work for reconstruction and relocation of approximately 150 of the Military Ridge Road and CTH Q intersection. The work will include stripping of topsoil, removing existing intersection materials, construction of the new subgrade, furnishing, placement and compaction of 1200 Tons of granular materials, construction of ditchlines, placement of curb and gutter and tapering of side slopes.

2. CONTRACT # 2 - Bituminous Concrete Pavement. This Contract is for furnishing and placement of approximately 1050 Tons of 1-3/4 bituminous concrete binder course and 1050 Tons of 1-3/4 bituminous concrete surface course.

FUNDING SOURCE: Portions of this project are funded through the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) as a TRIP allocation project and is partially funded through the State of Wisconsin, Iowa County and the Town of Dodgeville.

BID OPENING: The Town of Dodgeville will receive sealed bids at 108 E. Leffler Street, Dodgeville, WI 53533 until 2:00 p.m. on March 17, 2009. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at 2:00 p.m.

BIDDING DOCUMENTS: The bidding documents shall be obtained at the office of K. D. Engineering Consultants, Inc., 2600 County Hwy. Y, Dodgeville, Wisconsin 53533, (608) 935-3310. The bidding documents may be examined at the office of the Owner or Engineer. The plan deposit and mailing fee is a non refundable $20.00.

BIDDING FORMALITIES: The Town of Dodgeville reserves the right to waive formalities in bidding and to reject any and all bids. No bid shall be withdrawn without the consent of the Owner for a period of forty-five days after the scheduled time of the bid opening.

BID BOND: A satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and a licensed surety company or a certified check payable to the Town of Dodgeville in an amount not less than 5% of the maximum bid, shall accompany each bid as a guarantee that, if the bid is accepted, the bidders will execute and file the proper contract and bonds within ten days after the award of the contract.

WAGE RATES and STATUTES: The letting of the work described herein is subjected to the provisions of Section 66.0901 and 66.0903 of the Wisconsin Statutes. The minimum wage rates to be paid for the project shall be in accordance with Section 66.0903 of the Wisconsin Statutes. No State or Federal Prevailing Wage Rates apply to this project.

INSURANCE: Contractor shall carry Public Liability Insurance and Workmen's Compensation Insurance that is satisfactory to the Owner.

CONTRACT SECURITY: The successful bidder for Contract #2 will be required to furnish a corporate performance bond and payment bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bonds are to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Owner.
